Chanced on National Geographic’s Singapore Store today at Vivocity. It’s a “Experience” Store concept, very arty-farty. I didn’t really notice exactly what they sell, but I was definitely sold on the “experience” part.
There’s apparently only 2 of these in the world now, one in London, and the other one here.
The sales members were patient and attentive. They described their causes and informed us of their upcoming events. Fantastic.
They are hosting a “dance performance” (as was described to me) on Friday and Saturday performed by Arts Fission. Tix at $35. Facebook event here.
Scored tix to watch a bunch of blokes (and dudettes) sweep the floor and generally make a racket with everything AND the kitchen sink. Stomp!
Not quite as good as I remember from many years back when I first watched and heard them. But good still.
This 2,000-seat theater is modeled on Italian opera houses, with four balconies along the sides. Reminds me of the 2 old guys in the Muppet Show ;-)
Scored tix to Beltuner’s gig at Alliance Francaise. French musicians playing Gypsy Jazz. A lot of improvisation, some familiar tunes.
No doubt they are very talented, some of the tune progressions sounded similar – but still they are very good. Especially the dude on the double bass.
Woot! We should do this more often.. comedy tix next time perhaps?
